Born in 1922 in Mosman Park, Fremantle WA, Betty was the second child (and youngest daughter) of Thomas William Howson (b1900 in Kalgoorlie WA) and Eleanor Florence Ambrose Taylor (b1904 in Fremantle WA). Tom (a Labourer) and Florence married in 1922 in Perth WA. Tom worked as a Labourer, Painter, Buidler's Labourer and Mill Hand in Perth, Donnelly River and Fremantle and served in WWII (Private; Service Nos:W244358/W2520).

Betty was an Embroiderer in Cottesloe WA when enlisted in the AWAS in January 1943. In May 1943 she was engaged to Michael Joseph Deegan - a Wool Sorter from Fremantle who was also serving in the Army (Sevice No:WX18603). Betty was a Signalwoman (Service No:WF94288) when she was Discharged in November 1945. Brothers Ronald and William also served in WWII.

In June 1945 Betty married Leonard William Logan (b1918 in Sydney, NSW) - Leonard was a Staff Sergeant in the Army (Service Nos:NX132078/N53208) and in November they both Discharged in Sydney NSW.

Betty and Leonard settled in Sydney NSW where Leonard was a Salesman before moving to Katoomba NSW in the mid 1950s. Leonard was a Newspaper Manager when he died in Katoomba in 1961. Following Leonard's death, Betty returned to Perth WA in 1964 and remarried. Betty died in 2019.
