Lance Sergeant William Hector Glenister (Service No:VX147738) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V102962) with 1 Armoured Training Regiment, 1 Provost Training Coy and New Guinea Force (NGF) Provost Coy from 17 February 1943 to 2 January 1944 when he enlisted 'in the field' in the AIF. Lance Sergeant Glenister was attached to NGF Provost Coy at Discharge on 25 June 1946.
Born in Main Lead, Beaufort, Victoria in 1921, Bill was third of eleven children of Hector Henry Glenister (b1897 in Beaufort, Victoria) and Martha Louisa George (b1898 in Beaufort, Victoria). Hector had worked as a Striker in Warracknabeal and was a Labourer in Main Lead, Beaufort in 1918 when he and Matha married. They settled in Main Lead where they raised their family and Hector was a Labourer and Farmer.
Bill worked as a Farm Hand, Butcher and Woodcutter before his enlistment and was in Maryborough. QLD in 1946 when he married Mary (Molly) Margaret Bradshaw (b1921 in Maryborough, QLD) - Molly was working in Maryborough as a Clerk. Bill and Molly settled in Maryborough, QLD where they raised their family and Bill worked as a Storeman and Clerk. Bill died in 1989 and Molly in 1996.
