Joined 2nd Battalion at Gallipoli, 31 October 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, 28 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Landed in France during March 1916. Killed in action, Belgium, 7 November 1917.

His brother 384 Private Edward Bowe 19th Battalion AIF died of war wounds 26 April 1920 age 35.

Two other brothers served 4985 Private Martin Bowe 24th Battalion AIF and 1893 Private Patrick Bowe 21st Battalion AIF.
