George Cecil Taylor was the son of Charles Lane Taylor and Emily Jane Bowden. He was born on the 7th of March 1896 in Carlton, Victoria.

He married Olive Irene Marion Annear (known as Irene, born in Gisborn in 1903) in 1923. Together, they had 3 children: May Taylor (1928-2010), Beryl Miriam Taylor (1939-2020) and William Charles Taylor (1929-2013). He was brother-in law to John William Annear, who was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal, and Charles Frederick Annear, who was killed in action in Hamel, France, along with Irene's remaining 12 siblings.

They lived in many places in Victoria - Broadford, Gundowring, Myrtleford, Nagambie and Castlemaine. They witnessed the marriage of their son William Charles Taylor to Ann Therese Beasley in Albury 1955.

 

He died in Castlemaine on the 15th of March, 1968. 

George is buried with his wife Irene in Campbells Creek/Castlemaine cemetery.
