Richard Harbron Abbot served in Borneo and New Guinea. He returned from WW2 service with injuries and illness. He lost the use of his left eye from shrapnel during a Japanese bombing raid on Darwin while on leave. He suffered from stomach ulcers and possibly PTSD. He died of complications from the ulcers in 1958, aged 38.
He was survived by wife Rose Amelia (Cox) and children Rosalie, Yvonne and Richard Frederick.
