The 7th name inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour as Fallen.

On the 14th May 1918, Private Joseph Lythgoe, 17th Battalion (Reg No-1173A), married miner from Newtown, Minmi, New South Wales, was Killed in Action by an enemy sniper, age 27 years 5? months, at the Second Battle of Morlancourt, France.

No Roll of Honour circular submitted.
No Red Cross Wounded and Missing file.

Born at Wigan, Lancashire, England about December 1890 to ?; husband of Amelia Lythgoe, from 25 or 29 Sovereign Road, Wigan, Lancashire, England, Joe enlisted on the 15th January 1916 with the 35th Battalion, Reg No-1173, age 25 years 1 month, at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A24 Benalla on the 1st May 1916.

Transferred to 17th Battalion 19.2.1917.

Re-allotted Reg No-1173A 7.5.1918.

Joe’s name has been inscribed on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
