Died on this date - 9th April........Private William Gordon Parker was born at Latrobe, Tasmania in 1893. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 13th August, 1915 as a 21 year old Labourer.
Private Parker arrived at Suez with 11th Reinforcements of 15th Battalion on 25th November, 1915. He arrived in France on 8th June, 1916.

Private Parker was admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance on 13th April, 1917 with Influenza. He was transferred to Hospital at Rouen, France then transferred to a Convalescent Depot & rejoined his Battalion on 14th May, 1917.

Private Parker was admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance on 27th August, 1917 with a wound to right hand. He was transferred to other Field Ambulance Stations & rejoined his Battalion in 7th September, 1917.

Private Parker was wounded in action on 26th January, 1918 with shrapnel wounds to neck. He was invalided to England & admitted to War Hospital, Warren Road, Guildford, Surrey, England on 11th February, 1918.

Private William Gordon Parker died at 8.30 am on 9th April, 1918 at War Hospital, Guildford, Surrey, England from wounds received in action. He was buried in Stoughton Cemetery, (now referred to as Stoke Old Cemetery), Stoughton Road, Guildford, Surrey, England where 3 other WW1 Australian Soldiers are buried.
