Son of Clarence Rupert  John Hawke and Eliza Ada Hawke of Dwyer Street, Boulder, WA formerly of Broken Hill, NSW

Trained under W.D. Morris, Chemist, of Boulder, WA for four years

Commenced return to Australia on 30 August 1918 aboad HT Wiltshire as nursing staff disembarking on 24 September 1918

During 1924c Melville married Mabel T.E. Millen in Perth, WA
