Cecil was the eleventh of twelve children of Louis Jacob Nicholas Hastedt (b1878 in Adelong, NSW) and Minnie Brennan (b1876 in Molong, NSW). Louis - a Labourer - and Minnie married in 1898 in Orange, NSW and raised their family at Millthorpe near Orange NSW.
Cecil - a Labourer - married Eva Mavis Donnelly (b1918 in Eden Monaro, NSW) in 1937 in Orange, NSW. Cecil served briefly (June - July 1940) as a Signalman (Service No:NX27952) with 8 Division Signals.
In 1943 Cecil and Eva relocated to Sydney NSW where Cecil worked as a Labourer. Eva died in 1998 and Cecil in 2004.
