Son of Daniel Egan, Amphitheatre, Victoria
Prior to enlisting Michael was teaching at Chillingollah East No 3821 school. He embarked with the 23rd reinforcements of the 6th Battalion and after training for some time in England he proceeded to France. He was wounded in action 20th September 1917 and admitted to hospital. Returning to his unit he was again wounded on 10th August 1918 and was invalided to England. After recovering he once again rejoined his unit in France. Michael returned to Australia per 'Main' on the 23rd July 1919.
