Victor transferred to the 50th Battalion on 26 February 1916 and served at Tel-el-Kebir in March. Shortly after being sent to France with his unit he was shot in the left ankle on 16 August and was sent to Birmingham War Hospital, Northfield, England on 20 August, rejoining his unit in France on 1 May 1918. Three days later Victor was wounded a second time when shot in the right buttock. He was invalided to Reading Hospital, England. From there he returned to Australia on the Swakepmund on 15 June 1919 and was
discharged on 22 September.
