| 15 Feb 1942: | Imprisoned Malaya/Singapore, Following the fall of Singapore, Harry Morris and Majority of his unit (8th Division Mobile Laundry and Forward Decontamination Unit) were taken captive. He was confirmed a POW held by the Japanese in Malaya. He spent over three and a half years in captivity, eventually being held at the Changi POW camp. Following the Japanese surrender, he was recovered on the 5th of September 1945 and repatriated to Australia shortly after aboard the HMAT Duntroon. His recovery records indicate he suffered from recurring bouts of Malaria contracted during his time in captivity. | |
