"OBITUARY. MR. PATRICK BISHOP

A member of an old Wallumbilla family, Mr Patrick Bishop, aged 55 years, and a former employee at the State Farm, Roma, died in Roma Hospital on Sunday last, after a long illness due to war service. Mr. Bishop while employed at the State Farm, enlisted in the 1914-18 war, and served as a driver in the 13th Field Artillery, A.I.F. He was of a quiet retiring disposition, but endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact. He bore his sufferings with that fortitude which has made men of the A.I.F. known throughout the world. Although unable to take an active part in public affairs, he retained keen interest in all that happened. He was buried in Roma cemetery on Sunday afternoon, after a brief service in the Methodist Church, at the close of which Mr. Reid sounded the "Last Post." The funeral was well attended, a testimony to the great respect in which he was held." - from the Western Star and Roma Advertiser 26 Feb 1943 (nla.gov.au)
