Private Norman Laurence King (Service Nos:NX56805/NX91502) served in the AIF initially from 8 July 1942 to 21 November 1940 with RRD Infantry. On the second occasion, he enlisted at Recruiting Depot Martin Place on 7 March 1942 and was attached to 5 Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) - graded Baker, then Cook. Private King was attached to 21 Employment Coy at Discharge on 15 June 1943 - medically Unfit for further service. Siblings James and Florence also served in WWII.
Second of six children, Norman was born in Sydney, NSW in 1917 to Joseph Samuel King (b1894 in Sydney, NSW) and Florence May Gertrude Rawson (b1897 in Sydney, NSW). Joseph (a Packer) and Florence (a Machinist) married in 1912 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family and Joseph worked as a Packer and Motor Driver.
In 1936 Norman was a Baker in Sydney when he married Dorothy May Bodell (b1916 in Sydney, NSW). Norman and Dorothy settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Norman was a Baker. Following Dorothy's death in 1963, Norman remarried in 1969 to Heather Maud Korber (nee Bryant; b1918 in Gosford, NSW) - Heather was a Widow. Norman and Heather settled in Sydney, where Norman worked as a Driver until his death in 1976. Heather died in 2017.
