The Name Game
This is my father. He passed away in 1961 when I was a baby.
I've recently started researching my family history. I found my father's war records. It made very interesting reading.....
My father enlisted in the Army as under the false name of Norman John Allison. I'm not sure why, maybe it was age related?
On discharge he was required to sign a Statutory Declaration that he had done this and the Stat Dec listed his real name as Ormond John Alliston.
Ormond John Alliston is the name that I have known him as my whole life and is the name on his marriage certificate, death certificate and grave headstone.
On further investigation into my family history, I have just this year (2025) discovered that my father's historical birth certificate lists his name as John Ormond Alliston.
I find all of this fascinating and have numerous questions which will sadly go unanswered.
