OTD: We Remember LCpl Ernest Albert Millar
Today we pause to remember the life and service of 854 Lance Corporal Ernest Albert Millar, who was killed in action on the 12 of August 1918 during the same attack at Proyart, France, that would see Sergeant Percy Statton awarded the VC.
A teamster prior to enlistment, Private Millar embarked from Sydney, NSW, on board HMAT Borda (A30) on 5 June 1916. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 2 September 1917 and he was a Lewis gunner for his platoon.
Lance Corporal Millar was killed in action on 12 August 1918 during an attack at Proyart, France at the age of 21. He is buried at Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
