Appointed Presbyterian Moderator of NSW
Mr. Smith is the eldest son of Mrs. Smith, of 'Ellangowan' School, Russell Street, Bathurst. After leaving school he was appointed to a position on the teaching staff at the Bathurst Superior Public School. Always having a predilection for the Ministry, he commenced studies under the Rev. James Kinghorn, late pastor of the Bathurst Presbyterian Church. Consequent upon the zeal and enthusiasm displayed by him in the attainment of his object, he was soon successful and today he has the satisfaction of knowing that his desire has been realised. Mr. Smith has been appointed to the parish of Bourke, where he will commence duties on the first Sunday of next month. In the meantime he will spend his time in Sydney.
