Warrant Officer II Harold George Paterson (Service No:WX21952) enlisted in the Army on 8 September 1942 with AAOC Training Depot - classified Clerk. He was attached to 9 Ammunition Depot (AAD) on  8 March 1943 when he was promoted to Sergeant, and on 28 April 1944 was attached to HQ Northern Territory Force when he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. Staff Sergeant Paterson served in  Adelaide River and Darwin (29 April 1944 - 4 July 1945) and was promoted to Warrant Officer II on 4 April 1945. WO II Paterson was attached to HQ Northern Territory Force at Discharge on 5 February 1946.

Born in 1914 in Kalgoorlie WA, Harry was youngest of three children of John Alexander Paterson (b1876 in Robe, South Australia) and Mary Lillian Beatrice Hogarth (b1878 at Port Pirie, South Australia). John (an Engine Driver) and Mary married in 1905 in Kalgoorlie, WA where they settled and raised their family and John worked as an Engine Driver and Iron Turner.

Harry worked as a Teacher in Kalgoorlie and Moora, and in 1938 in Perth married Marie Adele Gardner (b1916 in Kalgoorlie, WA). Harry and Marie settled in Kalgoorlie where Harry was a Teacher when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, Harry and Marie settled in Cottesloe, Fremantle WA where they raised their family and Harry was a Teacher. Harry died in 1998 and Marie in 1999.
