Lieut. Sydney John Fleming BEWICKE, who was killed in action, left Sydney with the 3rd Reinforcements, being attached to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Brigade. He had for many years taken an active interest in military affaris, and for some time he was a member of St. George's English Rifle Regiment. He assed his examination with honours, and was looked upon as a promising young officer. In private, Lieut. Bewicke was employed as book-keeper by Messrs. J.C. Ludowici & Co., Sydney. His parents reside at Palace street Petersham.
