William Feehan was born in 1893 in approximately July. William was born in Port Victoria in South Australia. William had brown hair and blue eyes. He was the son of Mrs. A Feehan and Mr. P Feehan. William was schooled at Port Victoria Public School in South Australia. When growing up William worked as a labourer, William had no children or a wife. William eventually moved to Adelaide. William enlisted to join the army on 5/9/14 with service number 536 at 21 standing at 5"7' and weighing 148 lbs. However, a month later he was discharged as medically unfit. He later re-enlisted with the service number 1940 on 7/1/15.
William joined as a volunteer. William was accepted into the Australian Imperial Force as an infantry private. William arrived at Gallipoli on the 8/7/15. He served on the peninsular for less than a month, being evacuated for illness on 4/8/15. On 10/8/15, William was admitted to Cairo, Egypt with influenza and spent time in the YMCA soldier recreational center until 26/8/15 when he was moved to Helwan, Egypt for further treatment. He was released sometime between February 1916 to September 1916 and during this time worked at the YMCA in Cairo until he was released on 28/9/16. William while in Egypt worked as most likely a guard at the Australian HQ in Egypt. A lot of his time in the HQ was undocumented and a lot of information was censored by Australian ANZAC because of the security of information and also because to keep the morale of the troops and population up. After his time working at the HQ, William was admitted to the hospital on 28/10/17 with influenza. William spent over one month in the hospital and returned to duty on 30/11/17. Quickly after William's dismissal from the hospital, he was admitted to the small town of Abbassia near Cairo with malaria on 12/8/18 only two months before the end of WW1. He was transferred on the 25/8/18 to Bulaq. He returned to work/guard the YMCA soldier recreation center in Haifa on 6/15/19 one year after WW1 ended. Not soon later on 3/6/19, he was admitted with an unknown cause to Cairo. Later William was transferred to an undocumented facility on 4/6/19. After his time in the hospital, William embarked HT "Essex" from Kantara on 16/6/19 for return to Australia.
William Like thousands of Australian and New Zealander military men and allied forces were rewarded with the British War Medal for fighting with the British army, 1914-1915 Star for fighting from 1914 to 1915 and the Victory medal for winning the war.
After the war, William was embarked back to Australia on HT "ESSEX" from Kantara Egypt on 16/6/9. William most likely went back to normal civilian life in Australia didn't do anything major that had been documented. William died and was buried at Centennial Park Cemetery, South Australia on 31/12/1975 at the age of 83.
