Born in 1904 in Parkes NSW, Philip was the eighth of nine children of George Robert Coffee (b1851 in Atherton, South Australia) and Rose Littlewood (b1871 in Meningie, South Australia). George (a Farmer) and Rose married in 1887 in Moama NSW. By 1919 the family had moved to Oaklands Farm at Millewa near Tottenham NSW where George was a Farmer until his death in 1931.
Philip worked as a Fitter in Acacia Ridge, Richmond NSW before moving to Brisbane QLD in 1931 and working as a Mechanic. In 1932 he married Margaret Jane Hendry (b1912 in Killarney, QLD) and the couple settled in Grevillea nr Kyogle, NSW. Philip was working as a Mechanic in May 1943 when he enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:N471431). He was attached to 22 Battalion VDC (Part Time) when he Discharged in March 1945.
Philip and Margaret remained in Grevillea nr Kyogle, NSW where Philip worked as a Transport Driver until his death in 1955. Margaret died in 1974.
