Private/Sapper Joseph Mizzi (Service No:VX12776) served in the AIF with 2 Railway Construction Coy RAE from 3 May 1940 to 30 December 1942 (Medically Unfit).

Joe was born in Malta in 1898 to George Mizzi (a Jeweller) and Carmel Tabone. Joe arrived in Melbourne, Victoria in 1923, and was a Cook in Melbourne in 1925 when he married Frances (Fanny) Marion Alice Fellows (b1903 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Fanny was working as a Machinist in Melbourne. Joe and Fanny settled in Melbourne, where they raised theirf amily Joe worked as a Cook before enlisting in the Army. Following his Discharge (Medically Unfit), he and Fanny remained in Melbourne, where Joe, unemployed for a number of years, was a Fishmonger when he died in 1969. Fanny died in 1987.
