Private Florence Rose King (Service No:Nf409141) served in the AWAS from 5 June 1942 to 22 June 1943 - graded Cook. Private King was attached to HQ 5 LoC Sub Area at Discharge.

Florence was born in Sydney, NSW in 1922, fifth of six children of Joseph Samuel King (b1894 in Sydney, NSW) and Florence May Gertrude Rawson (b1897 in Sydney, NSW). Joseph (a Packer) and Florence Snr (a Machinist) married in 1912 in Sydney NSW, where they settled and raised their family and Joseph worked as a Packer and Motor Driver.

Florence worked in Sydney as a Blue Maker before enlisting in the Army in 1942. She was in Sydney in 1945 when she married Mark Lyle Archer (b1925 in Orbost, Victoria) - Mark was serving in the RAN. Florence and Mark lived in Sydney, where Mark was a Labourer, before moving to Maffra, Gippsland, Victoria in the early 1950s - Mark was a Farmer - returning to Sydney in the late 1950s. Florence and Mark lived in Sydney and Menindee in the Riverina from the late 1950s - Florence worked as a Shop Assistant and Mark was a Baker. Florence died in 1987 and Mark in 2001.
