Warrant Officer II Arthur Thomas Cooper (Service No:V80185) enlisted in the ACMF on 3 October 1939 and served with 12th Garrison Battalion VDC, 21st Battalaion VDC and was attached to HQ Southern Command when he was Discharged on 12 March 1947. WO Cooper had served with the AIF in WWI (Private; Service Nos:T142 and 7927).

Born in 1888 at Blue Tier in Tasmania, Arthur was the youngest of five children (sons) of James William Cooper (b1848 in Hertfordshire, England) and Frances Christina Cope (b1851 in Lincolnshire, England). James and Frances married in 1875 in Hobart, Tasmania and lived in Blue Tier, Portland and Ringarooma.

Arthur worked as a Miner and Bushman in Blue Tier and in 1911 married Ada brown (b1890 at Ringarooma, Tasmania). Arthur and Ada were living at Ringarooma in 1915 when Arthur enlisted in the AIF - they settled there and Arthur worked as a Bushman and Council Employee until the late 1930s when they moved to Melbourne, Victoria. The couple settled in Melbourne where Arthur worked as a Carpenter, Munitions Worker and Commissionaire. Arthur died in 1965.
