Private Arnold Joseph Green (Service No:WX1997) enlisted in the Australian Army on 24 April 1940 and was Discharged as Medically Unfit. Private Green was one of seven siblings who served in WWII.
Born in 1910 in Burbanks, Coolgardie WA, Arnold was seventh of twelve children of William Henry Green (b1878 at Halls Gap in Northern Grampians, Victoria) and Clara Elizabeth Crudace (b1877 in Stawell, Victoria). William (a Miner) and Clara married in 1900 in Stawell, Victoria and by 1902 had moved to the Goldfield Region of WA. William was a Miner and the family lived in the Goldfields region - Bulong, Coolgardie, Boorara, Kanowna, Burbanks, Kalgoorlie, Norseman - until the late 1920s when William and Clara moved to Manjimup where William was a Farmer.
Arnold worked as a Labourer and a Miner at the White Hope Gold Mine in Kalgoorlie. In 1942 in Northam, WA he married Dorothy Irene Gibbs (b1921 in Fremantle, WA). Arnold and Dorothy lived in Wanneroo where Arnold was a Market Gardener, in Harvey where he worked as a Timber Feller, Collie where he worked as a Mill Hand before settling at Yilgarn in Southern Cross WA where Arnold was a Farmer. Arnold died in 1986 and Dorothy in 1994.
