Private Marmaduke William Atkinson (Service No:VX65820) served in the AIF (graded Carpenter) from 10 November 1941 to 15 January 1944 and was attached to HQ Kit Stire at Discharge.
Marmaduke was born in Sale, Victoria in 1912, eldest of five children of Lennox Lett Atkinson (b1874 in Stratfor, Victoria) and his second wife Josephine Mary Hundy (b1884 in Wentworth, NSW). Lennox (a Widower with seven children) and Josephine married in 1910 in Sale, where they settled and raised their family and Lennox was a Farmer/Grazier.
Marmaduke was a Farmer and Carpenter in Sale when he enlsited in the Army, and following Discharge, returned to Sale, where he lived with his widowed mother and brother Colin and worked as a Contractor and Carpenter. Marmaduke died in 1995.
