Biography contributed by John GUEST

Jack Guest (1921-1987) was an elite schoolboy footballer who played reserve grade as a 15 year old for the Carlton Football Club in the VFL in 1936. He later went on to play for Fitzroy reserves team also in the VFL, as a 17 year old in 1938.

Precocious, he first tried to enlist in the AIF as a volunteer on the 24th January 1941 as a 19 year old without parental consent. Recruiter's detected his false age claim and his application V75204 haulted.

He then presented himself successfully on the 28th May 1941 as Jack Guest (VX56864), born 1st October 1918. The 19 year old passing himself off as 21, enlisted along with his 25 year old brother, Clifton Henry Guest (1913-1979) (VX56859).

That day Jack and Cliff joined their elder brother, 28 year old Percy James Guest (V63081). Percy served at home in the Australian Citizen's Military Force, based at Balcombe, Victoria.

All three Guest brothers, Jack, Cliff and Percy survived WWII, and went on to raise families.

Brother Jack, Cliff and Percy Guest, are the maternal nephews of Percy William Logan (1885-1918) who was killed in action at the Somme on 5th October 1918.

They are also the patrilineal cousins of Albert "Berty" Edward Guest (VX19043), who died of wounds on 7th July 1941 in Syria; and David Lindsay Guest (1920-1943), VX28286, who died of illness at Ambon, Netherlands, East Indies, now known as Indonesia.

David became a Japanese P.O.W on the  17th February 1942 and died of dystentery on the 12th December, 1942. He was a member of the Gull Force sent to Ambon and disembarked on the 17th December 1941.
