Private Walter Arnold Travers (Service No:V60930) served in the ACMF with Australian Army Services Corps (AASC) 4th Division from 22 August 1940 to 29 January 1942.
Born Walter Ronald Trevaskis in Melbourne, Victoria in 1917, Wal was third of four children of Ernest Trevaskis (aka Travers; b1880 in Adelaide, South Australia) and Caroline Howe Thomas (b1880 in Melbourne, Victoria). Ernest (a Bootmaker) and Caroline married in Adelaide in 1908, and by 1910 had settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Ernest was a Salesman.
Wal was working as a Tinsmith in 1940 when he enlisted in the ACMF (on his Attestation Papers his name is Walter Arnold Travers) and, in Melbourne in 1942, he married Florence (Flo) Veronica McMahon (b1920 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Flo was a Machinist and Wal an Engineer. Wal and Flo settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Wal worked as a Driver. In the mid 1980s Wal was living in Cardwell, QLD (NAA). Flo died in 2005 and Wal in 2012.
