VETERAN SOLDIER PASSES
MR. WILLIAM PETERSON
On Tuesday morning the death occurred in Brisbane General Hospital of M. William Peterson, of Nambour, at the age of 65 years. The deceased was born in Warwick, and at an early age went to sea and travelled. At the age of 19 he went to the Boer War and served in the British Army in India for eight years. Coming back to Australia he enlisted in the Australian Forces in No. 1 World War and was associated with the 1st Light Horse as Signaling Sergeant. Returning to Queensland he married at Warwick Miss Karoline Petersen. For some years Mr. and Mrs. Peterson resided in Brisbane and came to Nambour 18 years ago. The late Mr. Peterson was actively associated with the Nambour Subbranch of the Returned Soldiers' League and also had made a worthy contribution in many ways during the late World War. Surviving him are his widow (who is at present ill in the Nambour Hospital), two daughters, Mrs. A. J. Fuller (Sydney), Miss Helen Peterson Nambour), and a son. Mr. Owen Peterson (Nambour); also, a grandchild. The funeral moved from St. John's Church of England on Wednesday to the Nambour Cemetery.
