Biography contributed by Ian Fox

Sydney [legal name] was the son of Jessie (Candow) and Peter MacDonald. He was born in 1898, rather than 1899 as shown on his WW2 service record.

During his service with the AIF during WW1, he was in action in Belgium and France.
