Corporal Alfred Joseph Oliver Roberts (Service No:V290474) served in the ACMF (initially as a Private) with Victoria Echelon and Recods from 27 January 1942 to 21 November 1945. Brothers Oliver and Tom also served in the ACMF in WWII.

Alf was born in Berrigan, New South Wales in 1907, third of four children of Oliver David Roberts (b1860 in Creswick, Victoria) and Annie Hinde (b1872 in Balranald, New South Wales). Oliver and Annie married in 1902 in Melbourne, and lived in Mulawa, New South Wales and Melbourne, where they raised their family and Oliver was a Tobacconist and Farmer - in the 1880s Oliver was a Member (and Bandmaster) of the Yarrawonga Brass Band.

Alf worked as a Salesman for Myers Emporium in Melbourne, where in 1936 he married Mary (Molly) Gertrude Carmen Welsh (b1910 in Castlemaine, Victoria) - Molly was a Teacher in Melbourne. Alf and Molly settled in Brighton, where they raised their family and Alf worked as a Sales Representative and Director. Molly died in 1974 and Alf in 1984.
