Corporal Irwin Keith Carter (Service No:V1364) enlisted in the ACMF on 9 July 1940. He was attached to Australian Army Amenities (Vic Det) when he was Discharged on 23 January 1946. Two of his brothers also served - Cecil (Service No:15335) in WWI and Joseph (Service No:N383391) in WWII.

Born in 1902 in Melbourne Victoria, Irwin was the youngest of five children of Edwin Burnett Carter (b1870 in Majorca, Central Goldfields, Victoria) and Bessie Wallace (b1867 in Echuca, Victoria). Edwin (a Butcher) and Bessie married in Melbourne Victoira in 1895 and lived in Korumburra and Melbourne where Edwin was a Butcher.

In 1931 Irwin was a Butcher in Melbourne when he married Doreen Irene Meacher Piper (b1908 in Melbourne, Victoria). Irwin - a Butcher - and Doreen livied in Benalla, Victoria before settling in Melbourne. Irwin died in 1953 and Doreen in 1999.
