76 years ago today, on the Monday morning of the 28th February 1949, Private Allen Edgar Renwick, 31st Battalion (Reg No-4361), teamster from Lismore, New South Wales and Dorrigo, N.S.W. (1936) and 5 off Brown Street, Newcastle, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 53. PRESBYTERIAN-B8. 21.

Born at Bellingen, New South Wales on the 23rd November 1895 as ALLAN E to Herbert, died 30.8.1941, Liverpool, N.S.W., age 85, buried at Bellingen General Cemetery, and Caroline Theresa Renwick nee Jarrett, died 4.2.1936, North Bellingen, N.S.W., age 75, mother of 3 sons & 3 daughters, sleeping at Bellingen General Cemetery, from Bellinger River, New South Wales; husband of Aileen Esther Renwick nee Sellings, married 1924, Bellingen, N.S.W., died 25.1.1956, Newcastle, N.S.W., age 52, sleeping at PRESBYTERIAN-A18. 29. Allen enlisted on the 11th October 1916 at Lismore, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland on board HMAT A55 Kyarra on the 17th November 1916.

Admitted to hospital 20.6.1918 (influenza and bronchitis), 4.7.1918 (trench fever).

Commenced return to Australia 17.3.1919.

Allen arrived home on the 30th April 1919, being discharged on the 15th June 1919.

Mr. Renwick’s name has been inscribed on the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church First World War Roll of Honour, Bellingen.

I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at Allen’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

Older brother Herbert Jarrett, born 1891, Bellingen, New South Wales, labourer from "Darkwood", Bellinger River, New South Wales, enlisted 23.8.1915, 20th Battalion, Reg No-2788, wounded in action - 2.4.1917 (GSW left hand, severe), RTA 18.9.1917, 56th Battalion, died 3.5.1921, Bellingen, N.S.W., age 30, buried at Bellingen General Cemetery.

Older brother Thomas William, born 1893, Bellingen, New South Wales, farm labourer from "Darkwood", Bellinger River, New South Wales, enlisted 23.8.1915, 20th Battalion, Reg No-2789, wounded in action - 8.8.1916 (GSW shoulder & back, severe), 4.2.1917 (bomb wound left eye, mild), 18.4.1918 (GSW left leg), RTA 3.6.1919, 56th Battalion, died?, not officially commemorated.
