Private Andrew Wallace McGlashan (Service No:VX126652) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V246621) with 53 Bulk Issue Petrol and Oil Depot (BIPOD) from 4 June 1942 to 17 June 1943 when he Dicharged to enlist in the AIF. Private McGlashan served with BIPOD in New Guinea and Bougainville and was evacuated to the mainland on 10 April 1945 where he was hospitalised with Malaria. Private McGlashan was Disccharged on 17 October 1945.

Born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1913, Andrew was second of seven children of Alexander (Alex) McGlashan (b1885 in Lockwood, Victoria) and Agnes Cumming (b1888 in Lockwood, Victoria). Alex was a Farm Hand in 1919 when he and Agnes married in Shelbourne. They lived in Swan Hill and Lockwood, Kangaroo Flat and Marong via Bendigo where they raised their family and Alex was a Farm Hand and Farmer.

Andrew worked in Lockwood as a Farm Hand and Shearer, and following his Discharge from the Army, in 1947 married Gladys Margaret Buntin (b1916 in Elphinstone, Victoria). Andrew and Gladys settled in Lockwood where they raised their family and Andrew worked as a Farm Hand. Andrew died in 1987 and Gladys in 2001.
