Private Winston Ewart Hill (Service No:V256586) served in the ACMF from 9 March 1942 to 28 August 1944. Private Hill was attached to 3 MD Rec Camp at Discharge (Medically Unfit).
Winston was born in 1907 in Barrabool nr Geelong in Victoria, second of six children of Alexander (Alex) Hill (b1873 in Byaduk nr Hamilton, Victoria) and Mary Ellen Lamb (b1876 in Ceres, Geelong, Victoria). Alex and Mary lived in Barrabool, Geelong, Wonthaggi and Minyip where they raised their family and Alex worked as a Store and Station Manager. Following Mary's death in 1919, Alex was living in Myrtlesford in 1926 when he remarried to Miriam Margaretta Lyons (b1898 in Waterloo, Victoria). Miriam was a Teacher in Myrtleford and Melbourne. Alex and Miriam lived in Myrtleford and Mortlake where Alex was a Store and Station Manager. Alex died in 1939 and Miriam in 1981.
Winston worked as a Commercial Traveller/Salesman in Melbourne and in 1940 married Hilda Marion MacGregor (b1910 in Ballarat, Victoria) - Hilda was working in Melbourne as a Typist. Winston and Hilda settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Winston worked as a Salesman and Agent. Winston died in 1981 and Hilda in 2001.
