Following his Discharge, Horace and Alethea lived in Bombay, where Horace was Transport Officer (1918) and Iraq, where he was an employee of the Anglo Persion Oil Coy in Mohammerah (1919). In 1925, Horace and Alethea immigrated with four of their children, arriving in Fremantle WA from Basrah on board the Khyber (son Archie and two daughters had immigrated in 1924). Horace and Alethea lived in Lilydale via Busselton where Horace was a Smith and Fettler, and in the early 1930s moved to Perth, where Horace was a Caretaker.
