Lance Bombardier Hugh Albert Grey (Service No:VX116356) initially served in the ACMF (Service No:V14275) as a Sapper atatched to 53rd Anti Aircraft Coy from 19 May 1941 to 9 October 1942. Lance Bombardier Grey was in New Guinea on 10 October 1942 when he enlisted 'in the field' in the AIF. Lance Bombardier Grey served in New Guinea with 67 Australian Mobile Search Light Battery and 67 Anti Aircraft Coy (7 March 1942 - 19 March 1943 and 17 November 1943 - 9 December 1943) and was Discharged on 25 February 1944.
Albert Eric Hugh Grey was born in Hamilton, Victoria in 1922, youngest of two children of Hugh John Grey (b1878 in Branxholme, Victoria) and Ethel Sarah Wensley (b1878 in Geelong, Victoria). Hugh was a Farmer at Strathkellar via Hamilton when he and Ethel married in 1906. They settled at Strathkellar where they raised their family and Hugh was a Farmer.
Albert worked as a Farm Hand and Wool Classer before enlisting in the Army. In 1943 in Hamilton, he married Agnes Norah Margaret Ryan (b1922 in Casterton, Victoria). Following his Discharge, Albert and Agnes lived in Strathkeller and Mortlake, where they raised their family and Albert was a Farmer and Grazier. Albert died in 1969 and Agnes in 1985.
