Sergeant Lloyd George Baker (Service No:V39987) enlisted in the ACMF on 26 August 1940 as a Private at Area 46B Brighton. In 1941 he was attached to 46 Infantry Battalion and was promoted to Corporal on 9 February 1942, serving with HQ 1 Corps and GHQ Intelligence Corps. Promoted to Sergeant in 1942, he served with LHQ Directorate of Public Relations and was in Darwin, NT from 14 December 1944 to 26 September 1945. From Darwin, Sergeant Baker emplaned for Koepang, returning to Darwin on 7 October 1945. Sergeant Baker was attached to Directorate of Public Relations at Discharge on 3 June 1946.

Lloyd was born in Omeo, Victoria in 1918, youngest of three children of William Cook Baker (b1880 in Bendigo, Victoria) and Evelyn Amelia May Chaffey (b1884 in Bellbrae, Drysdale, Victoria). William was a Police Constable in Lancefield, Victoria when he and Evelyn married in 1907. They lived in Lancefield, Glen Wills, Omeo and Warracknabeal where they raised their family and William was a Constable with the Mounted Police. In 1926 in Omeo he received the Humane Society Heorism Award - Silver Medal. In the mid 1930s the family moved to Brighton, Melbourne where they settled and William was a Sergeant of Police.

Lloyd worked in Brighton as a Real Estate Agent before enlisting in the ACMF in 1940 - and had served with the Militia (6th Battalion). Following his Discharge, Lloyd was working in Melbourne as a Journalist in 1948 when he married Edna Mibus (b1920 in Hamilton, Victoria) - Edna was working in Melbourne as a Tram Conductress. Lloyd and Edna settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Lloyd was a Journalist and Grazier. Lloyd died in 1992 and Edna in 2022,
