Biography

Walter Leonard Meakins was the second son of Walter Joseph & Mary Meakins of Angaston.

Enlisted AIF 21.7.1915    22 years of age.

Height 5'6" Hazel eyes, brown hair.

Trained in Mitcham camp Adelaide

Embarked on Geelong to Egypt on 18.11.1915

In Sandy Desert Camp Egypt then onto France

Wounded in action Gun shot wound to neck 28.7.1916

Rejoined battalion 16.9.1916

Killed in action France 6.11.1916 ages 24 years

He has no known grave and his name is on Memorial panel 120
