Sergeant Benjamin Francis Harris (Service No:V143526) enlisted in the ACMF on 1 November 1941 and was attached to 3 AFW, 4th Divisional Ordnance Workshops, and Armoured Fighting Vehicle Trade Training Centre (AFVTTC) AEME. Sergeant Harris was attached to Australian Army Ordnance Corps (AAOC) Victoria Barracks at Discharge on 17 May 1944. 

In WWI he served with the AIF Air Flying Corps Laverton as a 2nd Class Mechanic from 3 April 1918 to 25 October 1918 and was Discharged as medically unfit.

Ben was born in Birchip, Victoria in 1895, eldest of five children of James (Jimmy) Harris (b1868 in Purnim, Victoria) and Mary Ellen Hands (b1872 in Daylesford, Victoria). Jimmy was a Farmer in Nullawil, Victoria in 1897 when he and Mary married in Talbot. They lived in Nullawil and Swan Hill where they raised their family and Jimmy was a Farmer and Contractor.

Ben was a Motor Mechanic in Melbourne in 1922 when he married Edna Harris Hamblin (b1897 in Foster, Victoria) - Edna was working in Melbourne as a Clerk. Ben and Edna lived in Beaufort where Ben was a Garage Proprietor before settling in Melbourne where they raised their family and Ben was a Motor Mechanic/Engineer. Ben died in 1973 and Edna in 1976.
