SURF FATALITY - WOULD-BE RESCUER DROWNED. TRAGIC OCCURRENCE AT MAROOCHYDORE. NAMBOUR, October 7.

Claude Benjamin Nosworthy, an employee at a mill in Nambour, was drowned in the surf at Maroochydore this morning. The deceased was bathing, when he noticed two ladies and a gentleman in difficulties some distance away. He at once proceeded to their assistance, but was caught by the tide, which was running very strongly, and was carried out to sea. His body was recovered about 10 minutes later by Mr Peter Hales, but attempts to restore animation proved unsuccessful. The deceased, who was 31 years of age, was an original Anzac. His family resides in Brisbane. The body was brought into Nambour.
