2/16th Battalion Platoon Commanders Sergeant "Buck" Salom and Lieutenant Tom Harper were wounded in Lebanon on 6 July 1941 in the assault on the El Atiqa Ridge. Tom died of his wounds the next day. Both attended the same high school in Perth WA and each was awarded an MID.
