Private Mervyn Allan Lawrence (Service No:W85638) served in the ACMF - 14th Battalion VDC (WA) - from 29 April 1942 to 16 October 1945.

Born in 1906 in Bellevue, Mundaring in WA, Mervyn (spelled Mervon on some official records) was eighth of ten children of Ernest Love Lawrence (b1870 in Picton Junction, WA) and Rachel Crampton (b1870 in Brunswick Junction, WA). Ernest (a Labourer) and Rachel married in in 1891 in Brunswick Junction, WA. That year, Ernest joined WAGR and worked in Bunbury, Fremantle, Northam and Greenbushes as a Cleaner, Fireman, Locomotive Driver and Pumper. By 1910 the family was living in Greenbushes where Ernest was an Engine Driver at Timber Corporation Mills before moving to Manjimup by 1917 where Ernest was an Engine Driver at No 1 State Mill.

Mervyn started work as a Labourer in the 1920's at Jardee, and by the 1940s worked in Timber Mills as a Benchman and Mill Hand. In 1939 in Blackwood WA Mervyn married Pamela Joy Boliver (b1920 in Hampshire, England) - Pamela had immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1923, arriving in Albany WA on board the Sophocles. Mervyn and Pamela settled in Jardee where Mervyn was a Timber Worker until the 1960s when they moved to Manjimup and Mervyn worked as a Mill Hand. Mervyn died in 1974 and Pam in 2009.
