Private Gordon Victor Richards (Service No:W85988) served in the ACMF with 14th Battalion VDC from 16 July 1942 to 16 October 1945. Brothers Jack and Basil also served in WWII.

Gordon was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1904, fourth of thirteen children of John Richards (b1875 in Montomeryshire, Wales) and Eliza Ann Sutton (b1878 in Bunbury, Western Australia). John immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1878, arriving in Townsville, QLD on board the Sir William Wallace. By 1893, John was a Railways Worker (Cleaner and Fireman) in Fremantle, and was in Bunbury working for the Railways in 1899 when he and Eliza married. They lived in the Margaret River region (Bunbury, Busselton, Karridale, Big Brook and Pemberton) where they raised their family. John worked for the Railways as a Night Shedman, Fireman and Locomotive Driver.

Gordon was a Butcher in Nightcliffe via Manjimup, and in the 1930s was in partnership as Leitch Co (Butchers, Storekeepers, Newsagents, Agents). In 1931 in Pemberton, Gordon married Amelia (Milly) Gwen Perry (b1908 in Fremantle, Western Australia). Gordon and Milly settled in Northcliffe via Manjimup, where they raised their family and Gordon was a Storekeeper (GV Richards' Store), and a Member of the Manjimup Road Board. Gordon died in 1975 and Milly in 1985.
