Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Eldest of three brothers who served in WWII, Private William Francis Flint (Service Nos:W49078/WX27701) initially joined the Senior Cadets in 1928, and served with the Militia (Private, Corporal; Service No:271428) with 11th and 28th Battalions from 1 July 1929 to 15 June 1943. Private Flint enlisted in the ACMF on 9 February 1942 and was attached to 3 Australian Corps HQ as a Driver on 7 August 1942 when he transferred to the AIF. Private Flint was attached to HQ 8 Supply Depot at Discharge on 31 August 1945.

Eldest of four children, Frank was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in 1911 to William Burrows Flint Jnr (b1881 in Bendigo, Victoria) and May Theresa Nielsen (b1885 in Adelaide, South Australia). William was a Prospector in Gwalia via Kalgoorlie in 1910 when he and May married in Boulder. By 1912 William and May had settled in Perth, where they raised their family and William was a Salesman.

Frank worked in Guildford as a Bus and Truck Driver, and in 1937 in Midland Junction married Esther Jean King (nee Buckingham; b1914 in Sandstone, Western Australia). Frank and Esther settled in Guildford, where they raised their family and, following his Discharge from the Army, Frank was a Bus Driver. In the early 1950s they were living in Bayswater, where Frank was a Paint Maker, and following their separation in the mid 1950s, Esther returned to Guildford where she worked as a Shop Assistant and Frank moved to North Perth where he worked as a Storeman until his death in 1970.
