Son of Albert and Mary Hannah MARCHANT, 'Dalmeny' 48 Denison Road, Lewisham, NSW
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Marchant, of "Dalmeny," Denison-road, Lewisham, have been advised of the promotion of their son, Sergeant Sidney Dent Marchant, to the rank of lieutenant. Lieutenant Marchant who is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Marchant, of New Lambton, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Dent, of Lambton, left Australia with the First Railway Supply Detachment, 11th A.S.C., under Captain (now Major) Milne (cldest son of the late Commissioner Milne) on December 19th, 1914. He was at Gallipoli, and has been for the last 18 months in France. Before enlisting he worked in the office of the superintendant of lines, Sydney.

DEAD
ADELAIDE, Sunday. — The town clerk of Unley, Mr. Sidney Dent Marchant, died at a private hospital yesterday, aged 51. He was born in Newcastle, and was town clerk of Botany before coming to Adelaide in May to take over the Unley post. He became ill soon after his arrival here. Mr. Marchant is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Sybil Bragg, of Mosman, and two daughters, Mrs. June Fewtrell and Miss Noel Marchant, a member of the A.W.A.S.
Cremated West Terrace Cemetery and ashes laid at Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens and Crematorium, North Ryde, Sydney, NSW.
