Boy - born in Perth WA - was the second of five children of Dudley Grant Carter (b1887 in New Zealand) and first wife Eileen (Elly) Mary Simons (b1890 in Clare, South Australia). Dudley (a Draper in Collie WA) and Ellie married in Fremantle WA in 1910. They lived in Collie WA, where Dudley was a Drpaer before going to England where Dudley served in WWI (Lieutenant; 88th Infantry). The family returned to Northam WA - making regular trips to England (Dudley was a Merchant). Following the death of Elly in 1926, Dudley remarried.
Boy attended Northam High School and was a Linotype Operator in Perth WA in March 1941 when he married Bernice May Jamieson (b1918 in Narrogin WA). In December he enlisted in the ACMF (Driver; Service No:W7747) and was attached to 11th Infantry Battalion when he Discharged to enlist in the AIF on 13 August 1942. Boy served in Darwin NT (March 1943 to December 1944) and was a Driver attached to Australian Press Unit Darwin when he was Discharged in July 1946. Brother John also served in WWII.
Boy and Bernice settled in Perth WA, where Boy worked as a Linotyper - in 1959 when the couple travelled to Singapore, Boy stated his job as 'Newspaper Representative'. Boy died in 1991 and Bernice in 2015.
