Private Bernard John Fisher (Service No:TX6797) served in the AIF from 3 February 1942 (12 Infantry Brigade) to 6 May 1942 (O/C AIF Reinforcements). Private Fisher was Discharged as Medically Unfit.

Born in 1908 in Brisbane QLD, Bernard was third of four children of Albert Cornelius Fischer (b1876 in Braidwood, NSW) and Lily May Plowright (b1883 in Bombala, NSW). Albert (a Cutter) and Lily married in 1903 in Sydney, NSW and lived in QLD (Brisbane and Stanthorpe) where Albert was a Cutter and Tailor. The family settled in Sydney, NSW by 1915.

Bernard competed his education at Bondi Boys' School and worked as a Wool Sampler in Sydney before moving to Western Australia where he was a Commercial Traveller in the Geraldton region. In 1939 in Perth WA, Bernard married Emily Jean Stewart (b1912 in York, WA) - Emily was a Teacher in Perth. Bernard and Emily moved to Tasmania and settled in Launceston where they raised their family and Bernard was a Commercial Traveller and Salesman and Emily a Teacher. Bernard and Emily divorced in 1968; Bernard died in 1976 and Emily in 1979.
