Private William Llewelyn Thomas Payne (Service No:W68906) served with the ACMF - Swanbourne VDC 3rd Battalion - from 24 August 1942 to 15 October 1945. Brothers Glyn and Aubrey also served in WWII.

Born in 1904 in London England, William was the eldest of four children (sons) of William James Payne (b1880 in London, England ) and Letitia Annie Theobold (aka Annie; b1880 in Oxton, England). William Snr (a Builder and Carpenter) and Annie married in 1905 in London and immigrated with their four sons in 1911, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Orantes. The family settled in Leederville, Perth WA where William Snr was a Builder and Carpenter.

 William started working as an Apprentice Turner in Fremantle, and was a Toolmaker in Perth WA in 1940 when he married Betty Isobel White (b1917 at Quairading, WA). William and Betty settled in Perth where William worked as a Toolmaker. William died in 1984 and Betty in 2006.
