Fremantle Submarine base, races and repairs.
While at the races with his brother Seybert, he was called to the gate over the PA. He was told that, as a patternmaker, he was needed at the Fremantle submarine base to assist in the repair of a Dutch submarine. He worked tirelessly and unwaveringly for for 48 hours straight to make sure that submarine could go back out to sea. When the repairs were finally over, he decided he would head home on the train. He fell asleep as soon as he sat down, fatigued from the 48 repair. When he awoke at his stop, he noticed a lady who had placed a white feather in his cap.
